June 9, 2011 Part Two

If you are scheduling a vacation soon here are some tips on ways to save!!!!!!!!!!

WAYS TO SAVE ON TRAVEL EXPENSES

$$  CHECK TRAVEL WEBSITES ON TUESDAYS FOR NEW UPDATED PRICING

Each Tuesday, sites like Expedia (the one I usually use) update their pricing, but they also change their deals too. So, if you are on the website and see a great deal on, let's say Thursday, remember that you only have until Monday night to decide whether you are going to book or not. Some deals may last another week, but I wouldn't take the chance.

I was once researching a vacation to Myrtle Beach and there was a great rate on a 2 or 3 BR condo. Once the rates switched on Tuesday, that was the end of the deal.

$$  CHECK AIRLINE WEBSITES ON WEDNESDAYS

Airline websites usually update once a week as well. Never book a flight on the weekend, the prices are way higher! Also, when booking your flight, use a site that let's you search a few days before and a few days after your selected date.

For example: Let's say you wanted to fly down to Florida on a Friday morning. If you check other days that week first, you might find that you can save over $100 if you fly on let's say, Tuesday or Thursday instead.

$$  TRAVEL DURING DISCOUNT SEASONS

You may not realize it, but there are discount or "value" seasons at campgrounds and even Disney World!

For example, campground rates in the Adirondacks increase after Memorial Day, so if you get some great weather in the middle of May, take a last minute weekend trip to a campground. Once the "summer" comes, you will see a rate hike of atleast $50-$100/nt depending on where you are staying.

Also, places like Disney have "value" seasons. Usually they have one value season in the first part of the year, sometime between the middle of January and the end of March, and then another value season later in the year, right around the time that the kids go back to school. Right now they are doing a promotion - If you book a package anytime from the middle of August to late September, you will receive a FREE dining package! This will save you hundreds of dollars!!! It might actually make it worth your while to stay AT the Disney park, rather than off of it! :-)

$$  USE YOUR DISCOUNT MEMBERSHIPS

You may not ever even think of it, but before you book your trip, call or inquire with the hotel, airline, or cruise line, etc. and ask if they offer any discounts. Sometimes places offer discounts for senior citizens, students, families with small children (like children eat FREE, etc.) or military or corporate discounts.

Other discounts may be offered to members of: AAA, AARP, certain employers, or members of certain clubs, like BJ's Wholesale Club.

$$  COMPARE YOUR ONLINE RATE WITH THE HOTEL DIRECTLY

Before you go ahead and book something on a site like expedia.com, try to call the hotel directly and ask them if they can offer a lower rate than the website. In certain cases, this may not work, but it's worth a try. Or the company may be able to offer you a lower rate at a hotel nearby.

For example, I was researching hotel rates for La Quinta Inn down in the NYC/NJ area. On expedia.com, the rate was fairly low, but when I checked the rate on the actual hotel website (here, using my AAA discount), I got an even lower rate!

$$  TRAVEL CLOSE TO HOME

Gasoline is one of the biggest costs when traveling! Save your gas money for food or entertainment instead. Or, just keep it in the bank. Try visiting the state's website to explore things to do close to home. Or, try typing your search into Google. There are lots of posts and great suggestions on places to visit. Example: Try searching in Google : "Cheap Beach Vacations on the East Coast" or "State Parks NYS".

$$  CHECK EBAY OR REDWEEK.COM OR VRBO.COM

These sites offer condos and rentals at discounted prices (best for big families or lots of friends taking a trip). Also, eBay and Redweek offer last minute timeshare weeks that people are looking to sell at LOW prices. Plus, many of them have the number to the rental management company or the person who is selling the week. Try to call them and haggle them down!

$$  STAY OFF THE PARK

Sometimes it's cheaper (esp when going to Disney World!) to stay off of the park! Save big on meals and souveniers when you buy them a cheap local shops/restaurants.

ANOTHER GOOD IDEA IS TO GET YOUR OWN KITCHEN.....

If you are staying for a while, or have a big family to feed, try to find a place that offers a small kitchenette, or a full size kitchen with dining table. The room might cost a bit more per night ($10+ more) but calculate your estimated expenses and you will probably find a big savings by going this route!

$$  DON'T INCLUDE YOUR INFANT WHEN MAKING YOUR HOTEL RESERVATION

When using a site like expedia.com, if you tell the computer that you have an extra child (even though it's an infant sleeping in a crib), the computer will want you to book a room with atleast two beds. In reality, you need one nice big bed with enough room for a crib/pack-n-play.

Most places don't charge extra for an infant or toddler anyways, so including this extra child will up your room price and only limit you to certain rooms (double rooms). Before you book without your child, make a call to your hotel and let them know that you will be bringing an infant and if you need to schedule for a crib or extra pull out bed at that time you can. (You might have to pay extra for this, so atleast you can save on the room!)

$$  TRY A BEACH VACATION

Reasons to try a beach vacation include:

-There are usually no fees for beach access/use
-At some beaches, you can bring your pets
-Fun all day for all ages
-Bring your own lunch/cooler to save big on lunches and snacks
-Low cost activities like: flying kites, sand castle building, volleyball and fishing

$$  CHECK TRIPADVISOR.COM BEFORE YOU MAKE ANY RESERVATIONS

TripAdvisor.com has great reviews and REAL pictures on hotels everywhere! REAL pictures taken by REAL people and REAL reviews. This way, you can see a picture of a moldy bathroom and decide for YOURSELF that maybe that hotel really wasn't right for you anyway.. LOL

There are also helpful reviews on different LOCATIONS. Example, type in North Myrtle Beach, SC... and you will get great reviews on cheap attractions or good places to eat!

$$  CHECK GASBUDDY.COM BEFORE YOU DRIVE AWAY

Gasbuddy.com is great! Put in your starting destination and then put in your ending destination and the computer will give you exact gas prices AT REAL GAS STATIONS and exact gas prices FOR YOUR CAR depending on how many mpg your car gets. This way, you have no surprises at the pump. It will even tell you how many gallons you will need!

Plus this way, if you figure your total gas bill to be $200 roundtrip and suddenly gas buddy tells you that it will actually be $300 roundtrip, you can recalculate your trip or decide whether you really want to spend that money ahead of time!

$$  USE COUPONS ON YOUR TRIP!

--Check weekly circulars and coupon inserts the week before you leave. Matchups are usually posted on couponing blogs on Thursdays or Fridays, so if you are leaving early in the week for your vacation, you will have a few days to gather some coupons to buy groceries later at the store.

--Check to see if you can find/buy any coupon/discount books for your destination. These will include money off at golf courses, restaurants and maybe even dinner shows!

--When you get where you are going, ask the locals for suggestions on cheap eats around town!! You might find BETTER food at a BETTER price!

$$  PLAN A BUDGET AND STICK TO IT

If you are eating in at your condo or at your campground, make your list for the grocery store ahead of time, this way, your meals are planned out and you don't "overbuy".

If you are going somewhere like a theme park or Disney, set a budget ahead of time for things like snacks and souveniers. Give each person $10 or $20 a day and they can decide how to spend the money, but once it's gone it's GONE. (You won't charge up cards or empty your account and get a surprise at the end)

Set a budget for each person's meal - say $15 pp including drink at a restaurant. You won't order a bunch of extras and again, each person can decide how they want to spend their money. If someone wants steak, they might have to drink water instead of ordering a beer!

$$  TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOUR CREDIT CARD REWARDS

Start several months or a year in advance.

Buy items with your credit cards, earn the reward points, and then pay them off immediately!

You will receive the points, with little or no interest.

In the end, you might be able to get a gas card, or gift card for a restaurant for FREE!!

$$  TAKE THE TIMESHARE TOUR

The dreadful timeshare tour. :-(
(There is usually only a certain group of people that qualify for these anyways)

Look on the bright side: Spend 45-90minutes of your time listening to someone talk about gorgeous, new condos - you can even take a tour of these places - and receive a dinner or entertainment gift certificate for FREE !! You might even be able to score some park tickets!

(Make sure you can get the free tickets whether you buy something or not before you take the tour)

$$  CHECK BLOGS AND WEBSITES

There are soo many blogs and websites out there pouring out great tips and tricks to saving $$$$$. There are websites that actually list cheap meals at Disney! They will list for you the cheapest eats around Disney, then you decide what you want, make the reservation at the specific place and ENJOY saving!!

$$ NEGOTIATE

Many times hotels or condo owners will negotiate the prices of their places, especially if it's last minute and they have no one else interested. Save big this way!

$$  BECOME A RETURN CUSTOMER

Some hotels, cruise lines, or parks will give you discounts if you frequent them!

Also, think ahead - if you are going to visit a place 2 or 3 times in a year, check on the price of the season pass or yearly ticket.

$$  HAVE KIDS? BUY GIFTS/SOUVENIERS AHEAD OF TIME

If you have small children going to somewhere like Disney with you... buy some gifts ahead! You can find small Mickey Mouse gifts or stuffed animals at WalMart or even on sale at the Disney store at home! Buy her a princess shirt at home for $10 instead of paying $25++ at the park. Just hide it and pull it out as a surprise on the trip!

$$  DON'T HIT UP YOUR SAVINGS ACCOUNT OR CREDIT CARD FOR EXTRA $$$$$$

Think about your purchases twice before you go ahead and swipe your card. Or, try walking around for an hour before you buy something. This will get your mind off of the item and give you some time to really think about whether you want it or not. Would you really pay $10 for a Mickey Mouse pen if you were at home? I don't think so. Will you regret this later when you get your bill? Or when you see your account empty?

Give each person a budget -- even kids! Give them $10 or $20 (whatever you can afford) each day and when it's gone -- ITS GONE! Then, they can make their own choices on how they want to spend it.

$$  SHOULD I RENT A LARGER PLACE WHEN I HAVE MULTIPLE FAMILIES/PEOPLE?

Maybe. Here's the deal...

EXAMPLE: MYTRLE BEACH, SC

Many times, it is cheaper to rent a larger space and share it amongst 12-16+ people.

EXAMPLE: DISNEY WORLD, FL

If you stay ON the Disney park, it is cheaper for each family to get their OWN room. Check the prices yourself.

$$  GO TO THE SPA BEFORE YOU LEAVE

Don't spend double the $$ on a massage or a pedicure because you "forgot" to get one at home before you left! Plan ahead and spend half the money at home the day before you leave!

$$  CHECK ALL OF YOUR TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS

Before you book anything anyway consider these options:

**Driving your own car
Puts miles on your car, car maintenance before/after the trip, can your car accomodate all people going, gas to and from whereever you are going, tolls, snacks, food, etc.

**Flying on a plane
Higher cost, might be too much $$ for a large family, hard/expensive to take extra children/pets, waiting time at connection points, Passport needed?

**Train/Bus
Might be too much $$ for a large family, what will you do for a car once you get where you are going?, does the train/bus schedule coordinate with your trip schedule?

**Rentals (Renting a larger car/van, etc.)
Expensive! Unless you are only driving within your state or a neighboring state, the fees will increase and you will pay for mileage! Tolls, snacks, food, and gas!

CHECK GAS BUDDY!

$$ RESEARCH AHEAD

Don't spend half your morning at Disney World researching cheap entertainment. Make a list ahead of time and ideas for each day of the week. Then each day just check items off your list.

You can also use online discount codes and printable coupons to receive extra $$ off admission prices to certain places, or you can buy advance tickets for a discounted price!

$$  STAY FLEXIBLE

Do you really need to fly out of Syracuse airport, or can you deal with flying out of Albany if it saved you $$?  Weigh your options and then book.

$$  LEAVE YOUR PETS @ HOME!

Sometimes hotels charge big $$ to bring the pet along, or it can limit your hotel options down to almost none. Unless you are going somewhere where you KNOW you can bring the pet EVERYWHERE, don't bring them in the first place, as most attractions or restaurants won't let you bring them in either... AND YOUR PET DOESN'T WANT TO SIT IN THE CAR THE WHOLE VACATION!

$$  TRY A HOUSE/RENTAL SWAP

There are websites where you can offer up your house or rental for a week in exchange for someone else's. The vacation could be nearly FREE for both parties!

$$  SCHEDULE YOUR CAR MAINTENANCE BEFOREHAND

The last thing you want to do is mess with car repairs on the way to/from your vacation so spend the money upfront and reassure yourself that you won't have to pay towing or costly repairs later.

$$  BEFORE YOU RESERVE A HOTEL, CHECK FOR FEES!

One hotel might book at $50 per night, but then charge you $10 per night to park and $10 in hotel fees, etc.

Another hotel might charge you $65 per night, but charge no extra fees.

Sometimes you can book a nicer hotel for less than it would cost you in the end for a dumpy hotel!

$$  BOOK YOUR HOTEL ON A SEPERATE CREDIT CARD

Some hotels place holds on your cards for possible damages or extra charges you might accrue while visiting them. Make sure your trip money is AVAILABLE AND SAFE! The last thing you want to do is get down to your vacation spot and realize that the hotel has put a hold on all of your spending money!!!

$$  SEND BIG PACKAGES AHEAD

Save on airline fees by sending your big packages ahead (ex. stroller, pet cage, carseat, etc.)

Some places like Disney will accept large packages a few days ahead for you and have it delivered to your room before you even get there!

$$  KEEP TRACK OF YOUR SPENDING!!!!

Each night, ask for a current bill from your resort, check your credit card statement, or simply keep a list of what you have spent throughout the day. Write down briefly what you have purchased and the cost of the item. Add up the total and see how you are doing. If you need to take it easy one day, you will know it! .. and you won't get a big bill at the end of your stay! No bad surprises at the end!!

$$  TAKE YOUR OWN PICTURES

Don't buy the $30.00 picture that the park offers, unless you really love it! Take other great pictures yourself, or ask a passerby to take one of your whole family. Would you really pay $30 for one picture at home? NO

$$  BRING YOUR OWN WATER BOTTLES/DRINKS/SNACKS

Okay. It's vacation, and you want to eat out and have fun. But for snacks and drinks, bring a small cooler of your own and you will save big. Some places charged upwards of $3-$5 just for a soda or a water bottle. Bring your own refillable bottles or juice boxes, maybe even some granola bars, etc. in a cooler to grab from.

$$ SAVE FOR YOUR TRIP AHEAD, DON'T PAY FOR IT LATER

When you are paying for items with cash or your debit card, you are more aware of what you are spending!

HOPE THIS HELPS GUYS! :-)

June 9, 2011

Haven't gotten any great grocery deals lately, but I did do some shopping at Macy's yesterday and I will share the results of that trip with you now!

Right now a bunch of the women's clothing is 70% off at Macy's. PLUS take an extra 20% off when you use your Macy's card, or in my case I had received some coupons for $10 off a purchase of $30 or more when I used my Macy's credit card.

A lot of you are probably looking to save and the last thing you want to do is sign up for a credit card, but here's the deal with Macy's. Sign up for the credit card, receive 20% off the day that you sign up. Then, each month you are mailed coupons for 20% off or like I said $10 off $30 or more. Plus, once a year you receive a birthday coupon for $10 off $30 or more as well!

On top of all this, you can sign up for Macy's Rewards. It's a free program and the clerk will scan your free keytag each time you purchase something. After 5 visits to the store, you will receive a $$ dollar amount of rewards, good on ANYTHING in the store! (Use it just like cash)

For example, one time I received $11 in Macy's cash to use on anything. I combined that with one of my $10 off coupons and I got over $30 worth of stuff for around $9bucks!!! :-)

Plus, every once in a while, you will receive a free chocolate bar, or package of pretzels, etc. This is random and you may or may not receive these.

After you are done purchasing your items with your Macy's card, pay the balance off immediately in the store, so you don't build up interest charges. This way, you are receiving the discounts and great rewards, without all the interest and hassle!

Yesterday I was in store looking to find some great deals on a few new shirts for work. (I will be starting to work again soon!) I was just skimming through the clearance racks and found some great deals. On top of that I had two $10 off $30 or more coupons that I was going to use. I broke my purchases up into two different transactions to receive the best discount.

Transaction #1:

*Knitwear Originally: $58.00
I paid: $11.40

*Sweater Orignially: $48.00
I paid: $10.40

Altogether, after my discounts I paid $22.84, including tax.

SAVINGS: $84.20 just on two sweaters!! :-)

Transaction #2:

*AGB Top Originally: $44.00
I paid: $4.60

*INC Sportswear Originally: $20.50
I paid: $4.92

*Jones Sweater Originally: $99.00

After discounts, I paid $24.69, including tax.

PLUS ON TOP OF SAVING ALMOST $250 ON THESE CLOTHES, I EARNED ALMOST $2.00 IN MACY'S CASH THAT I WILL RECEIVE AT A LATER DATE! :-)

In total, I paid around $24 for all of this great stuff!

My savings was atleast: $82 Plus savings that is not calculated because alot of the items were already on clearance. If you count these items from their original price, we saved probably atleast $150 dollars. All of those JMS tops were atleast $15-$17 each when they started out and we got them for FREE!

Would you pay less than $25 for ALL OF THIS STUFF???!

May 16, 2011 Update

Hi all,

While the baby is sleeping, I just wanted to take a minute to post a great deal that I got the other day. You should still be able to grab this deal for a few more days if you have the appropriate coupons and if your WalMart is not sold out of these products already.

First, let me start off by saying that I heard about a great Just My Size coupon in the May All You magazine from WalMart. The coupon is for $5 off any JMS item. Now these clothes are too large for me, but can be donated to the Salvation Army, etc. PLUS.. they are actually making me money, so of course I am going to grab them!!!!! :-)

The North Utica WalMart had Just My Size Knit Tops on a clearance rack for $2.50. The cost of the All You Magazine is currently $1.88 ONLY AT WALMART. (This magazine is GREAT and I will be buying it monthly from now on. The magazine has over $80 worth of valuable coupons, including a Texas Toast Crouton coupon for this week at P.Chopper - You can use the .50cent coupon, it will double at P.C. to take $1.00 off, and the croutons this week are .99cents! = FREE!!)

Soo..
1 Knit top @ $2.50 + 1 ALL YOU magazine @ $1.88 = $4.38!

A $5.00 coupon - $4.38 = .62 cent overage!!!!!!!!!

I bought four of each (magazines and tops) so .62cents x 4 = $2.48 overage!!!!!!

I MIGHT ACTUALLY GO BACK AND SEE IF I CAN GRAB THIS DEAL AGAIN!

NOW FOR THE LIST
I bought:

*2 2-Liter Bottles of Sierra Mist
*2 Bags of Lays Kettle Chips
*4 All You Magazines
*4 JMS Knit Tops
*1 travel-sized Secret deoderant

MY TOTAL BEFORE COUPONS WAS: $26.27 YIKES!

I USED:

-Save $2.00 wyb 2 bags of Lays Kettle Chips (Moments to Save insert)
-(2) Get one FREE 2-Liter wyb Lays Kettle Chips
-.75cents off ANY Secret deoderant (P&G Mailer)
-(4) $5.00 off JMS coupons (May All You magazine)

My subtotal was: $1.40 + .75 cents tax =

THE CASHIER THAT I HAD AT THE SECOND RITE AID AT THE END OF THE DAY WAS A REALLY MEAN LADY. SHE COMMENTED ON HOW SHE HATES PRINTABLE COUPONS AND HOW SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHY I SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE A COUPON FOR SOMETHING THAT IS ALREADY FREE. I DID NOT SAY ANYTHING. I JUST STOOD THERE AND SMILED. I AM THE ONE THAT IS SAVING ALL OF THIS MONEY!!! :-)

DON'T GET DISCOURAGED JUST BECAUSE OF A RUDE CASHIER. BE HAPPY YOU ARE SAVING MONEY. YOU ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING WRONG.

I CAN SMILE EVEN MORE BECAUSE NOW I GET TO FILL OUT ANOTHER SURVEY ABOUT HOW RUDE SHE WAS AND I WILL SAVE ANOTHER $3 :-) :-) :-)

So essentially, my OOP expense today for all of this great stuff, including tax was $13.39 :-)

Thank you Rite Aid for another GREAT SHOPPING DAY (minus the rude cashier)

I GRABBED SOME OTHER AWESOME DEALS THIS WEEK AT P.CHOPPER AND WALMART
I WILL TRY TO POST THESE LATER AND SOME PICS :-)

May 12, 2011

Hi all!

Just wrote up my list for some potential deals to grab today!

At WalMart:

**I have 15+ more coupons to grab some more FREE ivory soap
(You can still purchase these on eBay and stock up on soap at WalMart, since they are always on sale at this price! Even if you spend a few dollars now buying these coupons on ebay,etc... you will still save way more money than buying soap in the store when you need it! This is a great stock up price!)

**Not sure if I will find this deal, but a lot of WalMarts supposidly have the "Just my Size" clothes on clearance and there is a coupon this month in the May All You magazine for $5 off.. This could be a moneymaker!.. You can always donate the clothes to shelters, Salvation Army, etc. Or keep them for yourself..

**Some WalMarts around the country are rumored to have the Wisk laundry soap on sale (small bottle) for .97cents! Then, look for hangtags on other bottles for a $1.50 or $2.00 off coupon, which would make this a MONEYMAKER! (Make sure the size is right for the coupon!)

**Purina ONE Beyond Dog Food (1 LB box) is at WalMart for $2.57.. match that with a $2.00 printable coupon that can be found at iheartthemart.com and you will get yourself some pretty cheap dog food! There were also coupons a few weeks ago in the circulars for this brand.. I have to check them out (they are in my binder).. I will let you know more about this!

*********This is a GREAT DONATION item for the humane societies if you do not use it at your house!

NOW FOR PRICE CHOPPER:

I was just figuring out some scenarios for grabbing some cheap stuff at PC today..
Our fridge is somehow looking very empty so I need to start stocking up again..
(Usually we have a nice stock of sports drinks and kids juice, but they are drinking it like crazy this week!)

This week at PC, there is a $5 catalina coupon that prints for your next purchase when you spend $20+ on Nestle items...

Here is a GREAT JUICY JUICE DEAL!

Juicy Juice is on sale this week: 2/$5
-Spend $20, get $5 back catalina
-BUY 8 BOTTLES @$20
-USE (2) $2/4 coupons from the juicyjuice.com site, after sign-up you will find coupons!
-PAY $16 OOP, receive $5 catalina, TOTAL OOP= $11 for 8 bottles of juice

REALLY YOU ARE PAYING ONLY $1.38/E FOR THE BIG BOTTLES OF JUICY JUICE!

ANOTHER GREAT JUICE DEAL:

Not everyone will have this coupon, but if you have ANY Apple & Eve coupons, you can use them now!
The Apple & Eve Cranberry Blends are on sale for $2.77

I have a .55cent coupon that I got a few months back at WalMart
At PC, this coupon will be brought up to $1.00

This item will only cost $1.77

**NOT SURE IF I WILL BUY THIS OR WAIT TIL A BETTER DEAL, BUT STILL NOT A BAD PRICE!

********************************
The last deal that I have for PC today requires you to stop at WalMart first and pick up the coupon booklet that is in the front of the store, next to the chips display. "Moments to Save" insert.. get a few of them!
(You will need atleast 2 coupon booklets for this deal!)

Here's the deal:

Tostitos Tortilla Chips 2/$6, get an 8pk hamb or hot dog buns for FREE with IN AD coupon
-use (2) $1/1 Chips or Dip Coupon from MTS insert
-use Buy Chips AND Dip, get a FREE Pepsi Max Coupon from MTS insert

You will pay $4+cost of dip (not sure what price is) for 2 bags of Tostitos, 1 Pepsi Max, and an 8pk of buns

THIS IS A PRETTY GOOD DEAL WITH SUMMER BBQ SEASON COMING UP!

ALSO:
CHECK OUT THE POWERADE WHILE YOU ARE AT P CHOPPER THIS WEEK:

***(WITH IN AD COUPON)
Buy 10 Powerade at .88cents each, get 4 for FREE

10 bottles x .88cents = 8.80/14 bottles = approx .63cents each!

.63 cents is a great price for a sports drink!

If you buy these at the convenience store, you will pay over $1.00 a bottle!

**I will try and grab this deal since sports drinks go fast in this house!

GOOD LUCK SHOPPERS!

I WILL UPDATE YOU ON MY TRIP LATER TONIGHT!

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

May 11, 2011

First of all I have to say:

I HOPE YOU DVR'D EXTREME COUPONING TONIGHT!

But I need to remind you........ there are very few times that you are going to save over 95% on your grocery bill like these extreme people do.. REMEMBER.. this is for a show!

Sorry that I don't really have any GREAT deals to bring you today, but I wanted to give some advice on starting your own stockpile, as several people have shown interest in this lately.

First:
Like I said, don't even try for a 95% savings.. if you get there eventually.. GREAT.. but even if you can cut your grocery bills in HALF, you are doing very well for yourself!

Second:
When  you begin couponing, your stockpile is not going to appear magically.. it might take you a few months to really start to see a decent stockpile, atleast 6-8 weeks, I would say.

Third:
In the mean time, you can start building your coupon binder and getting other things in place like:
*A printer for printing valuable online coupons
*Ink for this printer, Paper for this printer
*Multiple pairs of scissors, one for home, one for your car, one for your binder
*A space in your closet, garage, extra bedroom, or basement where you are going to keep your stockpile
*Some bins for organizing small items like deoderants or razors, etc.
*Sturdy shelves for heavy cans, laundry soap, etc.
*An extra freezer/fridge (if you are lucky enough to have one, or to afford one) for stockpiling bread, vegetables, meat, etc.

**It is also a good idea to take a weekend, or a few days and roam around your local stores! This sounds crazy, but the quicker that you become familiar with your stores, the quicker you can get in and out, and you might even beat someone else to a deal this way! This will also help you when you are trying to organize your coupons later.

For example, if I have coupons for toothpaste, diapers, juice and frozen food, I organize my list the same way that I always make my way around the store. I always start at the pharmacy area, usually towards the front side of the store, make my way back to the baby section which is at the back in the middle, and then come up the last side to hit the main grocery items and finally hit the frozen and produce sections up by the checkouts (in WalMart).

Sometimes you can even ask your store's manager for a list of specific aisles and which items are in them.

Last:
Start checking coupon sites daily for deals, like I do. All of the deals I find online, you can too!

Check out sites like:
thekrazycouponlady.com
discountqueens.com
forthemommas.com
iheartthemart.com
facebook.com/pricechopper
iamthatlady.com

These are the main sites I go to and share deals from.. Check them out!

The main printable coupon sites are:
coupons.com
redplum.com
smartsource.com
target.com (coupon section)

You can also check:
ebay.com
thecouponclippers.com

etc. etc.

GOOD LUCK!

May 10, 2011

Wow! I can't believe I haven't posted anything in 5 days! Shame on me!

Don't worry though... I have been finding some great deals in the mean time!

Today @ WalMart:

*1 Bottle of Suave Professionals Hairspray
*25 packages of Ivory Soap (3 bars in each)
*4 packages of Mr. Clean Magic Erasers (twin packs)
*1 package of Finish Quantum Dishwashing taplets (10pk.)
*1 bubble wand for the baby
*1 birthday toy for the baby on clearance (Was $25.00, now $10.00)
I think it is a Crayola coloring/drawing board, where the music gets faster as she draws on it???
*1 Men's Speed Stick deoderant

Subtotal: $52+
Subtotal with coupons: $17+

Total including tax: $21+

MAKE SURE YOU WATCH THE CASHIER SCAN ALL OF YOUR COUPONS!!
The cashier I had today did not scan one of my coupons properly and I would have missed out on .50cents!
I know .50cents is not a lot, but jeez everything adds up! The more money in my pocket, the better!!

So this wasn't a fabulous shopping trip, but if you really think about it, the toys that Mia got were atleast $11. Without the tax, $6 is a great deal for a deoderant, 25 pcks of soap, 1 bottle of hairspray, 10 dishwashing tablets and 8 magic erasers!

YOU MIGHT ALL BE SURPRISED THAT I DID NOT DECIDE TO PURCHASE THE SUNDAY PAPER THIS PAST WEEKEND!

Reasoning behind this would be: I checked some of the blogs ahead of time, like I always do, and found out that there would only be 1 Smartsource ad this weekend. I chose not to grab a paper because I didn't see any great deals this week that I would need that insert for. In the future, if, for some reason, I do need a coupon from this insert, I can always purchase it on eBay, or a coupon clipping site.
This week, it just wasn't worth my money!

********************************

Like I mentioned on my F/B page, check out Price Chopper's F/B page to grab a coupon good for 2 FREE shrimp skewers. If you have a party or dinner coming up at the end of the week, print out a few coupons now, and visit multiple stores during the week, or run to the same store on different days this week to stock up! This could lead to a very inexpensive dinner!
I probably will pass this deal up because I really don't like fish, but for those of you that do like shrimp, Good Luck!

********************************

I had a huge disappointment this weekend (Sunday), when I went to grab the B1G1 FREE Clean & Clear Body Wash deal at Walgreens. I had the B1G1 coupons, so I would have gotten 2 for FREE (well, actually 12 for FREE since I had 6 coupons), but they were all out!!.. At two different stores!

I received rainchecks from one of the managers, but unfortunately my coupons are going to expire on the 15th of this month!

I have read other blogs where people have said that they are going to WalMart and WalMart is price matching the Walgreens coupon, and then after they use the B1G1, they are getting them all for FREE or close to FREE. I am going to try this out in the next few days and I will let you all know what happens.

The corporate policy says that WalMart should give these to me for free, but we'll see. Some managers or cashiers will give you a hard time to pick your battles wisely!

**************************

GREAT DEAL FOR THOSE OF YOU IN THE UTICA AREA!

Not really a coupon deal, but just wanted to mention that you can get a small ice cream for next to nothing a Nicky Doodles.

The other day, I went there and ordered 2 "baby" sized ice creams. The total was 2.18!! CHEAP!

The thing is, the ice cream wasn't really baby sized. They give a huge scoop, on a cone or in a dish and it's the perfect amount, even for an adult!

Grab some ice cream and let me know how it goes!

***************************

Also, over the weekend, I grabbed the Pampers diaper deal that I think I previously posted. (If I did not, I can post it)..

I ended up getting 6 packages of diapers/pull-ups and two packages of 72+ wipes for $27 (after register rewards)...

You can figure I got 6 packs of diapers for $4.50/e and got the 2 packs of wipes for free!!!!!

This was more money out of pocket than I usually like to spend, but now we won't have to buy diapers/pull-ups for a while and we could use the extra wipes!
Usually these diapers/pull-ups sell at around $8-10 per package, so I got them about half price! The wipes were selling at Walgreens for $2.99/pack! Outrageous!

*****************************

I will try to go out and grab a few more deals tonight?? If I do, I will update later!

Leave feedback! I would love to know what you guys think!!

May 5, 2011 Update

Hi all,

Just wanted to update you on some of the deals I got today.

I didn't find some of the things I was looking for, so the shopping trip was a bit crazy and disappointing, but I will go over everything anyways!

TODAY AT PRICE CHOPPER:

Price Chopper Trip

Total Out of Pocket Cost: $12.29
Total Savings: $25.36

Here's what I got:
*2 Large cans of Hunt's tomato sauce (we don't do much sauce in the summer, but I will save it for the colder months!)
--These were B1G1 and I had a .50cent printable Price Chopper coupon from scanning my card at the front of the store! 2 cans= $1.49 or about .75cents/each!

*4 Boxes of Trix cereal
--I used the Price Chopper in-ad coupon 4/$6, refer to my previous post
--I used 4 Trix printable coupons .55cents off, which P.C. will bring up to $1/e
4 boxes=$2.00 or .50cents each!!

---------------> These boxes of Trix usually retail for 2.50/e at P.C, so this was a GREAT stock up deal!!

*3 Thai Kitchen Noodles
--I found these for .99cents/e, and this is their reg. retail value
--I used a .50cent printable coupon for each one, which doubled to $1, so these 3 were all FREE!!

*I bought 1 donut for the baby which isn't listed here, for 79cents

*2 pkgs. "Italian" bread, B1G1 FREE
--I didn't have any coupons for this one, but I can use one of these now and freeze the other one
Total cost for both: $3.89 or about $1.95/e
NOT A GREAT DEAL, BUT BETTER THAN BUYING BOTH FULL PRICE

*Magnum Double Caramel Ice Cream Bars (MY SPLURGE ITEM :-) :-) )
Retail Value: 3.99
--I used a Price Chopper Facebook printable for $1.25 off
--I used an internet printable for $1.00 off
Total cost: $1.74, divided by 3 bars = .58cents/e
NOT BAD FOR SUCH A DELICIOUS TREAT!

*Ortega Taco Shells
Retail Value (on sale): $2.19
--I used a Price Chopper Facebook printable for $1 off of 2 boxes
--I used an internet printable from the Ortega site for $1 off 2 boxes
Total Cost: $2.38 or $1.19/e
NOT A GREAT BUY, BUT WE USE THESE ALL THE TIME FOR TACO NIGHT, SO I GUESS I WILL TAKE HALF OFF OF REGULAR PRICE :-)

WOULD YOU PAY $10 FOR ALL OF THIS?????
LET ME KNOW! LEAVE COMMENTS! THANKS!

I ALSO LOVE PRICE CHOPPER BECAUSE I EARNED ANOTHER .10CENTS OFF AT THE PUMP!

*******************************************
Rite Aid Trip

I didn't do as well as I would have liked today at Rite Aid, but still not bad for all of the high value items I got.

I ended up doing two different transactions because I could use my $5UP reward from my first trans for my second one.

First Trans:

1 Revlon Foundation (Reg Price 13.99)...... On sale for 9.99
1 Almay Smokey Eye Color (Reg Price 7.49)........  On sale for 5.99

--$3 off $15 or more coupon
--$1 off Almay manufacturer coupon from several weeks ago
--$2 off Almay Video Values coupon from riteaid.com
--$2 off Revlon Foundation manufacturer coupon (any)
--$1 off UP+ reward from a previous transaction

Total out of pocket (inclu tax) = $8.12
(NOW MY $5UP+ PRINTS OUT, JUST LIKE CASH AT RITE AID)
I will also have a $2 single check rebate to request at riteaid.com, which I will receive back in cash!

Sooo.. really all of this stuff for just around $1 !!!!!!!!!! :-) SUCCESS!

Second Trans:
(I did not do so well)

*Tape Dispenser (Reg. $3.99)...... On 75% off for $.99

*Washable Markers (for baby) (Reg. $6.99)....... On 75% off for $1.74

*4 pks. Orbit Tropical Remix Gum (Reg. $1.29/e) = $5.16

*2 Bornfree Trainer Baby Cups (Reg. $9.99)......... On 75% off for $2.49x 2 = $4.98
(This is a pretty good price for infant/toddler cups, esp for this brand!)

*2 pks. Reese's cups (one not pictured) (Reg. 2/$1)

*Playtex Tumbler Cup (Reg. $9.99).......... On 75% off for $2.49! GREAT DEAL

*4 pks. Wrigley's 5 Gum (one not pictured) (Reg. $1.49/e)....... On sale $1/e x 4 = $4

SOOO..

My total for all of this should have been: $20.36

BUT I HAD COUPONS!

--$3 off $15 or more
--.50cents off 2 Reese's Video Values coupon
--(2) $1.00 off 2 pks. of 5 GUM
--(2) $1.00 off 2 pks. of Orbit Gum
--$5.00 off UP+ Reward from my last trans.

After tax my total for all of this was: $9.38!!

My total wellness savings was: $27.71 and my total coupon savings was: $12.50

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF MY RITE AID SHOPPING TRIP? LET ME KNOW!

BOTH TRANSACTIONS WITH A TOTAL OF: $17.50
This is still more than I wanted to spend today, but I am in need of some new make up and the extra sippy cups will be great for the baby! Also, don't forget, I am still going to receive a $2 rebate from the foundation!

So really my total out of pocket cost is only: $15.50!
(Even with the sale prices, you would have paid more for just the foundation and eyeshadow, but I got all of this because I had coupons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Leave Feedback!!!!!

I will update tomorrow on some new great deals!

Good nite.

May 5, 2011

FIRST OF ALL HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO TO EVERYONE!

**Enjoy 50cent Dunkin Donuts Iced Coffees Today!!!!!!**

The first deal today that I want to mention is at Price Chopper:
(I will be grabbing this deal, maybe twice to stock up on cereal!)

There was a coupon that came in this Sunday's Price Chopper store ad:

You can purchase:
*General Mills Trix, Cocoa Puffs, Golden Grahams, Cinn Toast Crunch, or Original Cheerios
*Use the 4/$6 coupon that is in the store ad (not sure if they will have these in-store, but they should, just in case you didn't get this Sunday's paper)

*Now go to coupons.com and print three coupons:

- Save 55cents when you buy ONE BOX Trix cereal
- Save 55cents when you buy ONE BOX Trix cereal
- Save $1.00 when you buy 2 General Mills cereals listed..

Now, here's the scenario:

Go to Price Chopper and pick up 2 boxes of Trix and 2 boxes of (Cinn Toast Crunch, Cocoa Puffs, or Golden Grahams)

**Use the $1.00/2 coupon
**Use the .55cent coupon, which doubles to $1.00
**Use the .55cent coupon, which doubles to $1.00

Total savings: $3.00

Total out of pocket expense: $3.00 for 4 boxes of cereal!

THIS MEETS THE $1.00 LIMIT FOR A BOX OF CEREAL
(Most Extreme Couponers NEVER pay over a $1.00 for a box of cereal)

This is a great deal to stock up! Usually you would pay close to, or more than $3.00/box at Price Chopper for these cereals!

If you can print a second set of coupons, stock up somoe more and do this deal again, on another day or at another P.C. store!

GOOD LUCK!

***********************
Also, while you are at Price Chopper, use this coupon to get a FREE Top Care product with $25 purchase!

Not sure if this is a "great" deal, but we needed some meat and I found some great discount coupons on them which saved me a little money. I also used my bottle return credit for this purchase.

SOO.. my total out of pocket for the day was around $30, which is not bad for everything I got. The meat alone took up about 2/3 of that!

I just can't get over the fact that someone would actually pay:
*11.99/e for the John Freida haircolor = $23.98
*6.99/e for the BIC men's razors
and almost $2/per pack for gum!

THIS IS WHY YOU HAVE TO USE COUPONS!
YOU CAN BUY EVERYTHING I BOUGHT TODAY FOR AROUND $30, OR YOU CAN BUY THE 4 ITEMS I LISTED ABOVE AT RETAIL PRICE FOR JUST ABOUT THE SAME MONEY!

NOW YOU CHOOSE!

May 3, 2011

Hey Guys!

Just wanted to update you on some of the deals this week, but I need to do it quick!
I am trying to clean up this house and get motivated on my first day of summer vaca.

Anyways, there will be a great deal next week on Huggies diapers at Rite Aid, which I will grab- and for any of you who need diapers this is a great stock up price, especially if you buy extra packs for family members houses, your daycare, etc.

This deal comes from forthemommas.com - check out their site for other great deals!

Printable Huggies Coupons

The Huggies Coupons have reset. There is a good deal on Huggies at Rite Aid coming up the week of 5/15.
Buy 2 Huggies, Pull Ups or Goodnights $20.00
use (2) $2.00/1 printable Huggies coupons (note expiration date will be 5/17)
Pay $16.00
Get Back $5.00 UPR
$11.00 after UPR
Use the $3.00/$15.00 Survey Coupon

Thanks, forthemommas.com

For some of you who do not understand coupon lingo, here's what you have to do to grab this deal.
For the week of 5/15, you will go to Rite Aid and buy two packages of Huggies diapers and your total will be $20. First you will use a survey coupon that you have received from completing a Rite Aid online survey from a previous purchase. (This is the survey I have been talking about. Go to Rite Aid and grab something this week, then fill out the survey so you will have yours ready for this deal!) Now your total will come down to $17. You will now use your two $2/1 Huggies manufacturer or printable coupons. This will bring your total down to $13. You will pay out $13 cash for the two packages, but when your receipt prints, you will receive a $5UP+ reward from Rite Aid, good for your next purchase, which you can use again immediately later that day, tomorrow, etc.

Essentially, your out of pocket costs for the two packages of Huggies equals $8, which is $4/package.

This is a great deal, considering most people just run into WalMart or Rite Aid and grab a pack at the last minute for $8-$12 each.

I also wanted to let you all know about a new SunnyD coupon that is available for print. The coupon value is only .55cents, but the coupon says ANY SIZE, so no size restriction, which is great.

Also, if you hold on to this coupon (doesn't expire til Dec.), you are sure to find a sale and using it somewhere like Price Chopper, they will actually bring this .55cent coupon up to $1.00!!

I would suggest printing two coupons (just use your back button a few times, a second one will print) and hold onto these!

Each day you should visit the same sites I do:

TheKrazyCouponLady.com
DiscountQueens.com
Coupons.com
RedPlum.com
Smartsource.com

You can also visit Target.com to get some great printable coupons. Some of these will be for their store only, and some of them print out as a manufacturer coupon, so you can essentially use them anywhere!

Right now, there is a great B1G1 Free Target coupon for Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

There is also that high value $5off John Freida Foam hair color coupon that you can match with the manufacturer coupon and the gift card promo to actually make money at Target (see my previous post).

There is also a great Target printable under "Beauty" for $1 off any Revlon cosmetics item. This can be paired with a manufacturer coupon to result in even higher savings!!!!!!!! I love these!

You can also print a coupon from Target for their cafe in store. The coupon is only .50cents off, but I print these all the time when they reset. Then, when I go into the store, I can grab a snack for the baby so that she has something to do while she sits in the cart. The deal we always get is the #1. It's a huge bag of popcorn and a good-sized drink all for $1.50 +tax. After my .50cent off coupon, I pay just $1 for a huge snack that is going to last throughout the whole store. What a great deal!

ALSO- Target had their DollarSpot Easter stuff on sale for 75% off yesterday. There might not be anything left if you head over today, but it's worth a shot. I picked up some great stuff for the baby yesterday all for .25cents each!!!

*****************

If you haven't done so yet, please check out Price Choppers facebook page to find new deals every week. I'm pretty sure there is no print limit either, so you can print the coupons as many times as you like. Although, I think it says one per visit, so you might have to use them at seperate times.

I am going to submit for my Revlon rebate today on the Rite Aid single check rebate site.

ALSO:

I wanted to tell you all!.... Go to RiteAid.com and scroll down the left sidebar. You will find something called Video Values (it is small so look carefully!)... click on this and sign up! All you need really is an email and password.

Each month new videos are released through Video Values. At night, first thing in the morning, or when your child naps, take a few minutes to watch some of the ads. Most of them are :30seconds, but there are a few that drag on to 2:00mins. For each video you watch, you will receive coupons or points to receive coupons. This is very easy!!!! After you have selected the videos that you would like to watch, and you watch them, go to the My Rewards section to view the coupons or offers you have earned. Preview and Print!

You can take your earned Video Values to Rite Aid and stack these coupons with manufacturer coupons to save big!

Also, make sure you are completing the surveys on the bottom of your Rite Aid receipts!!!!!!! You can get $3 off of a $15 purchase, just for 2mins of your time! All of the surveys are the same, so after you've done one, you can fly through them all. I get a survey code on almost every receipt I get and I come home and complete them within 3 days to save the next time I go into the store!

With the survey coupon $3 off $15, your video values coupons, AND your manufacturer coupons, you can sometimes pay next to nothing for all of your items, AND you can receive UP rewards that will print towards your next purchase!

Make sure you sign up for a Wellness+ card. It takes 5 mins, it's FREE! and it will save you lots of money (I keep mine on my key ring for easy access!)

THIS IS WHY I LOVE RITE AID

May 1, 2011

Hello Everyone!

Since it is Sunday, I hope you all bought your papers today because there were some awesome coupons in them this week! I picked up 4 papers and I am hoping to get some more inserts later in the week! (Let's hope!)

Anyways, I have been skimming different couponing websites and it seems like Walgreens has some great deals this week. Rite Aid also has a few good deals.

Rite Aid:

Go to coupons.com and look for the $1/2 Butterfinger Snackers coupon, print this!
This week at Rite Aid, the Snackers are on sale 2/$1, so you will get 2 for FREEEE! We love free!

Also at Rite Aid this week, (I did this deal this morning) check out the Revlon beauty tools section. This section is located right next to the Revlon make up area, so look for the Revlon make up and then look to your left or right. This week the beauty tools are on sale for 40% off, AND you get a $4UP reward when you buy 2 beauty tools (LIMIT 4 UP REWARDS).

Try to find anything that is priced about $2.99 or lower. This way, when you get your 40% off, you will be paying around $1.80 each x 2 = you are MAKING MONEY on this transaction when you receive your $4 UP reward!

ALSO Make sure your UP reward prints on your receipt!!!! The second time I did this deal, the UP reward did NOT print- I spoke to the manager and they gave me $4.33 cash back!

ALL IN ALL Today I got a bunch of new beauty tools at Rite Aid and THEY PAID ME to take them out of their store! Thank you Rite Aid!

NOTE: If you purchase the Revlon Nail Buffer, you can also sign up for a $2 single check rebate from Rite Aid, which I will do, since I got one of these!

Walgreens:

I am going to try and stop by Walgreens tomorrow, as I do not have one in my immediate area and I will be closer to one tomorrow!

The deals I will find tomorrow include:

**Tylenol Precise Patches $7.99
-I will use a $5 coupon that I have printed from an online database (google: tylenol precise coupon)
-I will use a $3 in store coupon from the Walgreens May coupon booklet (FRONT OF STORE)
-I will do this deal twice...............which means 2 for FREE!!!

**5 Gum (single packs) $2/2
-I will use a $1/2 coupon that I found today at my local convenience store
-This means I will get 2 for $1!!!!!!!

-Or/And I can use the $3/1 coupon from the (5/1) paper
-I will get these for FREE!

**Dawn Dish Soap, On Sale .99cents with In-Ad Coupon
-I also have a .75cent off coupon from a P&G mailer that I signed up for and recently received
-I will get this soap for .24 cents!!!!!!!!!!!

DON'T FORGET!: At Walgreens, you need to have the same number of items that you have in coupons, meaning, if you are trying to use 6 coupons, you need to be purchasing 6 items. SOOOO, sometimes you have to pick up filler items. This can be anything, but if you are trying to save the most, make it something cheap! Just before you get to the register, count your coupons and you items to make sure you don't end up throwing in some very expensive candy bar, etc. at the front cash out just because you forgot your filler!

Lots of times, Walgreens will have things on sale for the week that you can actually use! Ex. One week, like this week, the salt was on sale 2/$1, so I bought these as my filler items. I was getting low on this product at home, so I made this my filler. This week, I might purchase the chicken broth that is on sale 2/$1 because I am getting low on this product. It acts as my "filler", but it's also useful to me at home!

IF ANY OF YOU FIND ANY OTHER GREAT DEALS THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO POST, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO WRITE IN THE COMMENT AREA, OTHERWISE GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY COUPONING! :-)

April 28, 2011

Hello all!

Some great deals already this morning!

Print a Buy One Get One Free for Smokey Bones in Liverpool, NY.
Must be used by May 1st. Valid for one free entree when an entree of equal or greater value is purchased.
Smokey Bones B1G1 Coupon

REMINDER: There are going to be 4 coupon inserts this weekend!.. So this is a great weekend to stock up on papers. It is good to buy about 4 papers. This will cost you $8 out of pocket, but you will get hundreds of dollars worth of savings on a weekend like this, so it's worth it!

OR, If you want to buy the inserts seperately for whatever reason, you can buy them on eBay. Most coupons arrive at your door within about 3 days, so if you order ahead, you can usually have them by Monday or Tuesday.

ALSO, before the week is up (on Saturday), go to Price Chopper's facebook page under "coupons" to print out a FREE MIO water enhancer. One per customer/or one per visit, but this water enhancer's retail value is over $3.00! This is a great way to try products.

Price Chopper Facebook Coupons: Price Chopper Facebook Coupon

You can also use this coupon for an extra $1 off! This means that you are actually making a dollar! I'm not sure if Price Chopper will refund you the difference, so just in case, pick up something in the store valued at $1 or more, ex. bread, can of soup, juice, etc. I went to get this deal the other day and I picked up a jug of apple juice. It was on sale for $1.50 or 2/$3, so I paid just 50cents!
